Online Gathering on
the Laws of Three & SevenJune 9 – 14, 2025

Explore the cosmic architecture that shapes our inner and outer worlds in this intensive six-day online workshop. The Laws of Three and Seven, known in ancient wisdom traditions, represent universal principles that govern everything from celestial mechanics to human psychology. Each day, we’ll delve more deeply into practical applications of these laws through guided exercises and group discussions. Sessions will last 60-90 minutes with breaks, concluding with daily practices designed to verify these principles in your everyday experience. Your observations will form the foundation for our following day’s exploration.
The gathering will be at a cost. All sessions will be recorded for registered participants. Read more below:
Overview of Laws
The ancients envisioned the universe as a tree with worlds branching out exponentially from its trunk. Each galaxy branched into suns that branched into solar systems that branched into planets that branched into moons. Those tiers closer to the trunk enjoyed its direct influence, while those farther away drifted into inevitable isolation. The creator compensated for this isolation by instating laws. In drawing away from the trunk, each tier came under more laws that guaranteed order would be maintained. Among these laws, the two most fundamental were the Law of Three and the Law of Seven.
The Law of Three dictates that every phenomenon results from the interaction between three forces: active, passive, and neutralizing. The Law of Seven means that no process unfolds in a straight line—each process undergoes precise deviations following a universal pattern. We will explore these concepts through practical examples and conclude with an experiment designed to help you observe these laws in action in your daily life.
“The fewer laws there are in a given world, the nearer it is to the will of the Absolute; the more laws there are in a given world, the greater the mechanicalness, the further it is from the will of the Absolute..” – George Gurdjieff

The Six Processes
Having examined the theory behind the Laws of Three and Seven, we must now examine their relation to each other. For this end, we study their manifestation in the worlds immediately adjacent to us: sun, planets, and earth.
The sun is the source of life on earth; it bathes living beings with light and warmth. The earth is the source of raw material; it lends living beings the components for their physical bodies. And there is an additional influence that mediates the sun’s life-force and the earth’s matter: the influence of the planets. Planetary influence dictates the form of everything living. Consequently, organic life on earth is regulated by an interplay between sun, earth, and planets, life, matter, and form.
This understanding of celestial bodies and their influence on human temperament dates back to ancient Mesopotamian priest-astronomers who first observed planetary movements and understood these movements as divine patterns influencing human affairs. During our workshop, we’ll explore how these ancient civilizations established correspondences between the seven celestial bodies visible to the naked eye—Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn—and their manifestations in human psychology.
Wherever three forces interact, they can manifest in six possible combinations. Life, matter, and form create six possible triads. Three triads result in ascending octaves, three in descending octaves. We will review the theory behind these six processes and begin observing them play out in our daily lives.
“Any kind of action… always consists of triads. There exist six different triads comprehensible to the human mind, each representing a different combination of forces.” – Peter Ouspensky
The Third Force
In the Law of Three, the active force is usually self-evident. The resistance is also often simple to detect. But the third force is elusive. To learn to recognize the third force, we will examine its presentation in Esoteric Christianity.
Esoteric Christianity expresses the universality of these three forces in the Holy Trinity. The elusive third force is embodied in the mystery of the Incarnation—when the Divine Word became flesh. In this dramatic act of cosmic reconciliation, God (life) assumes a physical body (matter) through Christ, whose nature (form) perfectly bridges the divine and human realms. It is significant that God cannot intervene directly to achieve this restoration of order. God has to conform with the laws that govern the worlds below, or risk destroying them.
Christ as the incarnation of God is prefigured in the Old Testament in the story of the three archangels who visit Abraham. We will compare these two stories, along with images of both, to better understand the Law of Three in Esoteric Christianity and the elusive aspect of Third Force.
“Two forces cannot produce anything—they will only turn round one another without any result. It takes a long time to begin to see three forces in things—for some reason we are third force blind.” – Peter Ouspensky
